Hardware Requirements:

  • This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac. A PC is recommended because some features of the course may not work properly on a Mac.
  • Some content within the Workforce Development Kit may have individual hardware and software requirements. Much of the content within the Computer Skills section is not compatible with a Mac or Chromebook. Software must be installed and fully operational before you attempt any of the activities. A basic calculator with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate square roots may be required for some activities within the Math Refresher module.

Software Requirements:

  • PC: Windows 8 or later.
  • Mac: macOS 10.6 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

Other:

  • Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.

Instructional Material Requirements:

The instructional materials required for this course are included in enrollment. This also includes external references which you are encouraged to study.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites:

There are no specific prerequisites for this course, but having some working knowledge of residential construction and appraisals is beneficial. There are no prerequisites for the Workforce Development Kit.

State Requirements:

Further, while you can take this course in any state, please note that some jurisdictions have home inspector licensing or registration laws that require a classroom, field inspection, and/or association membership component. Be sure to check your state's requirements prior to enrolling.
